The Asia Pacific Society for Public Affairs (APSPA) proudly highlights the successful implementation of the 15th International Conference on Public Organization (ICONPO 15), held on 28–29 May 2026 in Budapest, Hungary, under the theme “Bridging Technology, Green Energy, and Environmental Sustainability.”

As a global academic association committed to advancing public affairs, governance innovation, and collaborative research across the Asia-Pacific region, APSPA continues to strengthen its international academic networks through strategic partnerships with universities, research institutions, and global scholars. ICONPO 15 reflects APSPA’s long-standing commitment to creating an inclusive platform for interdisciplinary dialogue on governance, sustainability, digital transformation, and environmental policy.  This year’s conference was hosted in collaboration with PCIM Hongaria and PPI Hongaria, with support from Eötvös Loránd University (ELTE), DOSZ Hungary, and several international academic institutions. The conference brought together scholars, policymakers, researchers, and students from Asia-Pacific and European countries to discuss contemporary global challenges and innovative governance solutions.

APSPA President, Professor Dr. Amporn Tamronglak from Thammasat University, emphasized that ICONPO has become more than an academic conference. Since its establishment in 2010, ICONPO has served as a strategic platform for scholarly exchange, collaborative research, and regional cooperation in addressing global governance challenges. She also formally expressed APSPA’s trust and support toward PCIM Hongaria and PPI Hongaria as the official hosts of ICONPO 15 in Budapest.  The conference featured distinguished keynote speakers and panelists from Indonesia, Hungary, Malaysia, and other countries, including H.E. Penny Dewi Herasati (Ambassador of Indonesia to Hungary), Prof. Dr. Tibor Faragó (ELTE), and Prof. Dr. Halimah Abdul Manaf (Universiti Utara Malaysia).

These scholars contributed significantly to discussions on governance innovation, sustainability transitions, public sector reform, environmental governance, and digital transformation in public administration.  Throughout the conference, APSPA emphasized the importance of interdisciplinary collaboration in addressing the intersection between technological advancement, green energy transitions, and environmental sustainability. The conference sessions covered strategic themes such as digital governance, circular economy, smart villages, climate resilience, green finance, renewable energy systems, sustainable public policy, and adaptive governance.  By organizing ICONPO 15 in Europe, APSPA further strengthened its international presence and expanded opportunities for cross-regional academic cooperation between Asia-Pacific and European institutions. The conference also reinforced APSPA’s mission to promote ethical governance, evidence-based policymaking, sustainable development, and inclusive academic engagement in the global public affairs community.

The successful implementation of ICONPO 15 demonstrates APSPA’s continuing role as a leading regional academic association dedicated to fostering impactful research, international partnerships, and innovative public governance for a sustainable future.
