University Proclamation 45 Trails of International Cooperation with APSPA: Strategic Steps in the Development of Public Administration

The Asia Pacific Society of Public Affairs (APSPA) was founded to promote and develop academic study and exchange on public organizations, public administration, and public management in Asia and around the world.

The governments and society of the Asia-Pacific region appear unprepared to face a new era of rapid growth and globalization. In an era when information access is becoming faster and more widespread, and physical barriers are disappearing as a result of technological improvements, it is critical to promote public discourse, communication, and cooperation among many stakeholders. It is vital to develop modern and innovative nations in various aspects of education, with simple access to information and technology.

The Public Administration Studies Program at Proclamation University 45’s Faculty of Social Sciences and Political Sciences, located in Sleman District, Yogyakarta, specifically on Proclamation Street No. 1 Babarsari, Y Jakarta, has established collaboration and friendship with the Asia Pacific Society for Public Affairs (APSPA).

Pangky febriantanto, S.I.P., M.I.P., who directs the public administration study program at the Faculty of Social Sciences and Political Sciences of the University of Proclamation 45 Yogyakarta, signed the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU). Prof. Eko Priyo Purnomo, S.i.P., M.Si, M.Res., Ph.D., is Asia Pacific’s General Secretary for Public Affairs. On Monday, July 29, 2024, the signatories are in the Jusuf Kalla School of Government, which also serves as the Asia Pacific Society for Public Affairs (APSPA) office.
According to Febriantanto, who received a call on Monday (July 29th), the signing of the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) aims “to strengthen partnership and positive collaboration in the international sphere, both academic and non-academic.”
“This cooperation process began with the consultation of Prodi Public Adm regarding membership of the APSPA association, then triggered to simultaneously enact a cooperation agreement,” as stated by Pangky Febriantanto.

“Hopefully, this cooperation can create mutually beneficial relationships and have a positive impact on both sides,” Pangky Febriantanto, the spokesperson, said.

According to Pangky Febriantanto, this relationship began with a consultation on APSPA membership, which eventually led to a cooperation agreement. Hopefully, this collaboration will result in mutually beneficial relationships and a positive impact for both parties.

“The nearest agenda is an international webinar,” Ujar Pangky stated. International webinars provide global access to knowledge, allow for the interchange of ideas between countries, promote international collaboration, and save travel expenses and difficulties. Furthermore, the webinar provides scheduling flexibility, promotes education and training, introduces worldwide innovations and trends, and improves participants’ competencies.

The signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between the Public Administration Studies Program of the Faculty of Social Sciences and Political Sciences at the University of Proclamation 45 and the Asia Pacific Society for Public Affairs (APSPA) is a significant and strategic step forward. This collaboration provides chances for both parties to broaden academic networks, boost research quality, and share expertise and best practices in public administration. Proclamation 45 University will benefit from this relationship not just in terms of international recognition, but also in the creation of new public administration policies and practices.

The partnership between the Public Administration Studies Program and the APSPA is a good strategic move. It not only broadens the international reach of academic and research institutions, but it also serves as a forum for the exchange of knowledge and best practices in public administration. This phase is critical for improving educational quality and developing institutional ability to address global concerns. This type of engagement can create new prospects for mutual research and professional growth while also strengthening the Proclamation 45 University’s status in the worldwide arena.

The decision also indicates the university’s dedication to contributing to the development of international policies and best practices, which will eventually expand the curriculum and educational quality in public administration. This collaboration can serve as a model for other educational institutions looking to establish positive and useful worldwide ties (journalist: tegar// proofread: aulia)

Professor Dr. Achmad Nurmandi M.Sc Brings the Idea of World Smart Government Index in ICONPO 2023

Friday, 18 August 2023, Professor Achmad Nurmandi as the Guest Speaker of ICONPO 2023 discuss the concept of a world government and the potential to create an index that ranks countries based on their alignment with this idea. The notion of a world government is complex and thought-provoking, suggesting a future where nations collaborate on a global scale to address pressing issues that transcend borders.

Imagine a world where cooperation takes precedence over competition, where international conflicts are resolved through dialogue and diplomacy, and where the well-being of all humanity is prioritized. Creating an index to measure a country’s progress towards such a world government is an ambitious endeavor, but it could provide valuable insights into the state of global collaboration. This index could encompass several key dimensions:

  1. International Cooperation: This dimension would assess a country’s participation in international organizations, treaties, and agreements. Countries that actively engage in cross-border collaborations and uphold the principles of mutual respect and shared responsibility would score higher.
  2. Diplomacy and Conflict Resolution: A vital aspect of a world government would be the ability to peacefully resolve conflicts. This dimension would evaluate a country’s commitment to diplomacy and its role in mediating global disputes.
  3. Global Citizenship and Human Rights: A world government would value the rights and dignity of all individuals, regardless of nationality. This dimension could measure a country’s protection of human rights, its treatment of refugees, and its commitment to promoting global citizenship.
  4. Sustainable Development: As part of a global community, countries would be expected to contribute to sustainable development. This dimension would gauge a nation’s efforts to address climate change, promote sustainable practices, and support economic and social progress around the world.
  5. Openness to Cultural Exchange: A world government would embrace diversity and encourage cultural exchange. This dimension could evaluate a country’s policies and attitudes towards immigration, cultural preservation, and international education.
  6. Global Economic Equity: A crucial aspect of a world government would be the reduction of economic disparities between nations. This dimension would assess a country’s contributions to global economic stability and its efforts to bridge the gap between wealthy and impoverished regions.

Combining these dimensions would result in a comprehensive index that provides a snapshot of a country’s alignment with the concept of a world government. It’s important to note that such an index would require ongoing refinement and the input of experts in various fields.

In conclusion, the idea of a world government is both inspiring and challenging. While creating an index to rank countries in this regard may be ambitious, it serves as a reminder of the importance of international collaboration and the potential for a more harmonious global future.

APSPA Annually Held International Conference to Contribute the Science for Public Administration and Digital Governance

Thursday, 17 August 2023, The digital revolution has transformed our lives in unimaginable ways. It has reshaped industries, disrupted traditional business models, and empowered individuals. In this age of rapid technological advancements, it is imperative that governments adapt and embrace digital transformation to better serve their citizens.

Digital government transformation is not just about adopting new technologies; it is about reimagining the way we govern, deliver services, and engage with our citizens. It presents an opportunity to create a more efficient, transparent, and inclusive government that truly meets the needs of the people.

By leveraging digital technologies, governments can streamline their processes, reduce bureaucracy, and enhance service delivery. Digital platforms can enable citizens to access government services anytime, anywhere, eliminating the need for physical visits and long queues. This not only saves time and resources but also enhances the overall citizen experience.

Furthermore, digital government transformation can foster greater transparency and accountability. Through open data initiatives, governments can provide citizens with access to information, enabling them to make informed decisions and hold their leaders accountable. This transparency builds trust between the government and its citizens, fostering a stronger relationship and promoting good governance.

In addition to efficiency and transparency, digital government transformation has the potential to bridge the digital divide and ensure inclusivity. By providing digital literacy programs and affordable internet access, governments can empower marginalized communities and bridge the gap between the haves and the have-nots. This inclusivity is crucial in building a fair and equitable society.

However, we must also acknowledge the challenges that come with digital government transformation. Cybersecurity threats, data privacy concerns, and the digital divide are just a few of the hurdles we must overcome. It is essential that governments work collaboratively with industry experts and civil society to address these challenges and ensure a safe and secure digital environment for all.

The ICONPO 2023 we have the privilege of hearing from experts who have successfully implemented digital government transformation initiatives in their respective countries. Their experiences and insights will provide valuable lessons and inspiration for all of us as we embark on our own digital journeys.

ICONPO 2023 encourage you all to actively participate in the discussions, share your experiences, and learn from one another. Let us seize this opportunity to strengthen our understanding of digital government transformation and explore innovative solutions to the challenges we face.

Together, let us build a digital government that is responsive, inclusive, and citizen-centric. Let us harness the power of technology to create a better future for our citizens and transform governance for the better.
