JKSG Holds 8th Webinar Series on Lessons Learned from Good Governance Implementation in Malaysia and Indonesia
Yogyakarta, February 28, 2026 – The Jusuf Kalla School of Government (JKSG), Universitas Muhammadiyah Yogyakarta (UMY), successfully held its 8th JKSG Webinar Series titled “Lessons Learned from Good Governance Implementation: Perspectives from Malaysia and Indonesia” on Saturday, February 28, 2026, via Zoom. The webinar gathered 67 participants from Indonesia, Malaysia, Bangladesh, Somalia, Nigeria, Pakistan, Thailand, and the Philippines to discuss comparative experiences in implementing good governance principles. Islamic microfinance pushed as inclusive financial solution in PH
ILIGAN CITY (PIA) — Stakeholders are promoting Islamic microfinance as a solution to financial exclusion in the Philippines, following a capacity-building workshop at Mindanao State University-Iligan Institute of Technology (MSU-IIT). The Workshop on Developing an Islamic Scheme for Microfinance, held March 31 at MSU-IIT, gathered participants from academia, banking, and the cooperative sector. The activity was organized by Universitas Muhammadiyah Yogyakarta (UMY), MSU-IIT, and the MSU-IIT National Multi-Purpose Cooperative (NMPC). Associate Professor Sittie Noffaisah Pasandalan, assistant dean of the College of Arts and Social Sciences at MSU-IIT, stated that limited public awareness continues to hinder the development of Islamic microfinance in the country. She said research engagement could help position it as a financing alternative. “Students and researchers can study Islamic microfinance and how it can be a potential financial scheme that Filipinos can use. The Institute for Education, Teaching, and Strategic Planning of the University of Muhammadiyah Jakarta (LP4S UMJ) strengthens academic quality through Curriculum Dissemination activities with the Outcome Based Education (OBE) Paradigm. Suggestions have been made that as generative artificial intelligence (AI) transforms information retrieval and content production methods, the role of public libraries must be redefined from mere material storage spaces into public infrastructure that supports citizens’ AI utilization capabilities and a trustworthy knowledge ecosystem.
